Associate Professor Jeremy Barnett (he/him) was hired at Oakland University in 2011.  He holds an MFA in Scenic Design from Boston University and a BFA in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University.  He studied photography and interior design at the School Art Centers International in Florence, Italy; photography at Pittsburgh Filmmakers; and Stone Sculpture at the Tengenenge Artist Village in Guruve, Zimbabwe.

Jeremy is a Detroit-based scenic designer with over 200 design credits in opera, theatre and dance over a 20 year career.  He has been the resident scenic designer for Revels, Inc. in Cambridge Massachusetts for 15 years.  He specializes in site-specific work in non-traditional performance venues, which has allowed him to design productions in art galleries, abandoned and repurposed buildings, countless outdoor venues, two historic Revolutionary War era forts, and a former coffin factory.

Jeremy's work in public art includes outdoor murals, public sculpture and installation.  Jeremy has exhibited in venues across the midwest and has had recent international exhibitions at the ComPeung Gallery in Thailand and the Cuevas De Rodeo artist community in Rojales, Spain.  He is a founding member of the Marblehead Public Arts Committee in Marblehead, Massachusetts.

Jeremy shares his life with his wife, Kendra and their two children.
